Joshua

Summer 2010

Our tradition believes in the witness of both the Old and the New Testaments. In other words, each book of the Bible holds valuable lessons. We are not just a New Testament church. For this reason several years ago I began taking the summer months to preach on a single Old Testament character. I want to remind you of the those great lives for before the time of Jesus. You need to remember them because they hold valuable insights for daily living. If you have been with me through the years, then you may remember my sermon series on Nehemiah, Elijah, Ruth, Moses, Joseph or Esther. This summer I have decided to preach on Joshua.

Do you remember Joshua’s story? He had the job of following the great law giver, Moses. The scriptures tells us after forty years of leading the people in the wilderness Moses was not permitted to enter the Promised Land. He only got to see it in the distance. God selected a new leader to conquer and divide that land. That new leader was Joshua. This job defined him. He was always be remembered as a great warrior and politician. He gives us valuable lessons on how to win on the battle of life. Below you my find my tenative preaching schedule.

I ask for your prayers as I begin working on this sermon series. I will be completely honest with you. I am excited about studying Joshua’s life. However, such a project is complex. On the one hand it is demanding and time consuming. On the other hand, it is rewarding and edifying. It is important that you remember my goal is not entertain you. My goal is to make you a little more like Jesus. I hope you are with us each week.

                                                                                                  In His Service,
